Where the science of sound

meets the art of the possible

Audio Engineer has spent over two decades pushing the boundaries

of what live sound can achieve — delivering extraordinary sonic experiences

in places others deemed impossible.

Our story

Born from a passion for music

Founded in 2004 by Simon Ryder, Audio Engineer has been a pioneer and early adopter of the technologies shaping modern sound: directional bass arrays, beam steering, and the acoustic engineering that makes award-winning concerts happen in seemingly impossible venues.

From the outset, we built a multi-discipline practice spanning live sound, acoustics, and noise management — a deliberate marriage of rigorous science and genuine artistry. Every one of us, from Simon to our crew, started this journey out of a love for music. That love hasn't faded. We all still work gigs and mix live, because staying close to the music is what keeps the work alive.

Knowledge & craft

Constantly developing, constantly sharing

Techniques evolve, and so do we. Over the years we have developed our own proprietary methods alongside staying fluent in the latest advances. That curiosity has taken us around the world: for more than twenty years we have lectured internationally, sharing the science of sound with engineers, architects, and venue operators everywhere.

The Spark

Music is joy

Every one of us from our founder down to the drivers and crew started on this path out of a passion and love for music. To this day, we all keep that love alive by working gigs and mixing bands live and in the studio to keep that love and excitement alive.

Audio Engineer delivered a superb service, from initial planning to ensuring that every noise limit off site was adhered to. The technical delivery was faultless, with nothing but compliments about the sound from staff and customers alike. The site presented unique challenges such as the 10,000 capacity dance tent being 50m from the nearest block of flats with very strict environmental health requirements. Audio Engineer delivered a stunning result with no noise complaints.
I cannot recommend them highly enough!
